You're on the List!

Mary Hyatt Doerrer grew up in a small town in southern Indiana but has lived most of her life in Seattle. She loves the people, the trees but maybe not so much the rain. She has been a church moderator, a dental hygienist, a protestor, a crisis clinic volunteer, a ski shop employee, parks commissioner and now is happily staying home with her significant other. Her two adult children live close by. This is her first book.

For questions about navigating the murky waters of online dating,

Single, Seventy, and Sexless in Seattle! is a wonderful book about taking chances, trying something new, and working through the fear of the unknown for a chance at finding a connection and maybe even love. Mary Hyatt Doerrer tells an intriguing story of fighting through her fear of trying dating again after being widowed, and opening herself up to the possibilities of everything. As a psychotherapist, I highly recommend her book to anyone who finds themselves stuck in the cycle of hoping for love, but afraid to try online dating; Mary can guide you through the process with her tips and her humorous anecdotes.

Kari O’Neill,

I finally read your work and it's great. Really great. You come across as so experienced, knowledgeable and helpful to others negotiating the dating world. It's really informative and I can see why an editor would see its potential. I learned a lot. It was funny, it was serious, thoughtful, reflective, honest and open. Very forthright. I enjoyed it.

In Single, Seventy, and Sexless in Seattle!, Mary successfully tackles the subject of online dating, and offers practical advice on the do’s and don’ts. The book is relevant to modern times and takes into consideration the effects of the pandemic. I found myself enlightened, empowered and inspired by Mary’s blend of personal experiences, encouragement and guidance. Her book is anecdotal and entertaining. She covers every aspect from various dating sites, to writing your profile and posting appropriate pictures, to first dates and red flags. She comes across as genuine and it's obvious that she cares about people. She proves that investing in yourself, and having a little courage and patience, can result in a happy ending with your perfect match!
